Osprey Retreat

We had an enjoyable stay, but there were a few issues.

The positives: good location, very private, great views, lots of wildlife, plenty of room for a large group, well equipped kitchen.
The negatives: some VERY uncomfortable beds, many outlets in need of repair or replacement, needs more than one garbage can and one recycling can in a house that sleeps ten. Also, the description of the property said there were three queen beds but there were two queens and a full.

Bodega Bay Escapes, as always, was wonderful. We had one issue that needed attention, and it was taken care of within about an hour. A nice house, but probably not the best for our group.

We are so grateful to Pam and her staff for their gracious and timely response to every question and need we had before and during our stay!! Their attentiveness to detail and service made us feel that our needs were a priority- truly enhancing our trip and making it memorable- thank you Pam!!!

Arrived to clean, warm home with lots of windows to appreciate the ocean & neighborhood views. Plenty of sleeping options on many levels. Lots of cooking pots, pans, dishes and utensils in the kitchen. Would be nice to move the microwave in the corner which took up some useful counter space. Very close to the trails that take you around and down to the lovely beach. We had one small issue and the office crew quickly responded and made things right. I've been to many homes on the Bodega coast and would recommend this one if you are looking for privacy, space and mostly lots of comfort. Some kitchen items are older and could use an upgrade and the mattress in the main bedroom is a bit hard...

We had a wonderful time at the house. There was plenty of space and beds for everyone. We also enjoyed grilling on the deck while watching the sunset.

We very much enjoyed our experience. The house is beautiful with lots to do and love being close to the beach trail. Only wish we had three days because two is too quick

Absolutely fabuilous!

This home was perfect for the 6 of us friends getting together to sew. The house was very spacious and warm with lots of room to spread out. We were able to get 4 cars in the driveway and it was nice not to have to go up a lot of stairs for the main floor. The drop down ironing board was truly appreciated. I would say the cabinets were overloaded with seasonings with a lot of leftover's from people leaving it. The kitchen has almost everything you could possibly want in it. We couldn't watch TV upstairs because we couldn't figure out the remote. I would say a typewritten guide would have been nice. We loved this house so much we plan to rent it again in February of 2024. Thank you to the management for being so kind and accomodating.

There were 8 of us on this trip so we needed a bigger house that would also allow dogs. This is a very nice house and pics r accurate. Very well thought out. Great to have the game room for the grandkids at night. Also nice to have so many many bathrooms. The house was clean and the kitchen was very well stocked with dishes, etc to make meals for large groups. We had a great time there and would stay there again. Although there is heat thru out it would have been nice to have firewood for the stove. We live in the foothills and mainly use ours to heat our house.. But once again, very nice, clean house thank you, terry c

Only thing was the garbage is full when we got there and needs a new barbecue would be nice and fix the skate ball machine. Thank you.

Mostly we simply enjoyed being in this beautiful place which grows on us year-by-year : capacious accommodations, always accommodating hosts, everything was clean and ready to go when we arrived and we hope we left it pretty much that way when we left ...so we enjoyed exploring the coast and inland a little bit — and discovered a new —to us —winery

Had a good overall stay. The rental in a great location, with two different trails less than one mile to the beach, ocean views, surrounded by peaceful landscape. The home was clean and in relative good shape. The vacation rental management staff were extremely helpful, responsive, and accommodating.

Was pleasantly surprised that the games in the game room were fully functional, compared to so many other rentals (different companies) we have stayed at. Our boys loved that the sofa in the game room converts to a full sleeper sofa.

One of the trails to the beach is literally behind the house, just a few steps up the street. A good part of the trail is shaded and is quite enjoyable.

Our one complaint is that the mattress in the master bedroom was terrible, almost like sleeping on cardboard. Not what we expected in the master bedroom, especially as the mattresses in the other rooms were adequately comfortable.

Loved that the hot tub was indoors so could be used in any weather, although the water was a bit greenish and we weren't sure if the fan (which is supposed to be on when using the hot tub) was working at all.

Otherwise a wonderful getaway!

Overall it was a great weekend but we had some issues... microwave above stove was not working they did have a microwave on the counter but as The micro hood above the stove was not operable neither was the exhaust fan for the stove there are missing screens in the kitchen and the small windows in the other windows were hard to open. The oven also had some issues and the below broiler pan was missing. We also spent over a hour cleaning the BBQ before we could try to use it could not get our steaks to come to temp had to finish on the flattop stove. The hot tub fan was broken and the fan in the master bedroom makes a horrible sound.

Really enjoyed our stay here. Main floor is perfect for entertaining, lots of storage space. Loft and game room are amazing for kids of any age. We had 6 to 14 year olds running around and having fun. Definitely could use some TLC: some windows/doors have trouble opening, and a couple of the kitchen appliances were not fully functional. Overall it was a wonderful stay with great friends and outstanding weather. Thank you Bodega Bay Escapes! We will be back.

Wonderful house ... perfect in every way!

Loved staying at the Osprey Retreat. Three generations ranging in age from 83 years to 18 years old. Loved the views, cooking in the kitchen, sitting on the deck and playing games around the wood stove. We'll be back!

This house , with a couple of very minor building exceptions , was a very nice place for our group of 5 former high school friends to meet for a 3 day coastal retreat. I always enjoy dealing with Bodega Bay Escapes as they are far easier to contact and deal with personally to find the right spot than larger rental outfits. The house easily accommodated us and was well equipped.

We had a great weekend getaway at Osprey Retreat. The home was spacious, clean and well-equipped. Loved the fact that we had ocean views and views of a dairy farm across the gulch, rather than other homes. The location was close to the trail to the beach which was great for the kids.

Everything went incredibly smoothly from the reservation process to our arrival and departure. Would defintely use Bodega Bay Escapes and stay at this location again.

Osprey retreat was the perfect house for our family getaway. There was plenty of room for the eight of us. It was nicely furnished and stocked. One complaint I have was the pots and pans. There were way too many crammed into the cupboards, they were low quality, and some were filthy. We wound up selecting a few for the weekend, washing them and leaving them on the stove top for use throughout the weekend. Rental agencies would do well to provide decent cookware, and assure it is clean and organized. Two nice and complete sets of pots and pans, a couple of cookie sheets, cake pan, that is all you need. The housekeepers can then make sure the cupboards and cookeware are clean and organized for each new renter. It was such a turn off to pull out a pan that was dirty and gross.
The cookware here looked as though it had not been culled for 20 years, it was mismatched, dented, rusted, with finishes coming off the inside of the pots.

There were nice touches elsewhere, hand soap at every sink, Laundry soap provided, foil and plastic wrap, etc. Bodega bay Escapes could be a notch above other vacation rentals if they dealt with the pots and pans.

We especially enjoyed all the wildlife we were able to view from the back decks and living and dining room windows. Quail, deer and even a bobcat wandered through the yard.
The kitchen was super and the layout of the house was great. Lots of room for three couples to spread out.

The house has ample space for multiple families. The game room was very enjoyable for our kids to use.

Property as depicted on the website - no surprises when it came to furniture, layout or amentities. Kitchen is well stocked including some quality cookwear that survives usage by many users. Loved the views, beach access and the enclosed hot tub. The management staff was quite professional and typically responsive. A few recommendations such as spot clean the carpet, improve heating the lower level and add more band width to the wi-fi. This was a working getaway and we ony survived by relying on a personal hotspot because the house wi-fi was extremely unreliable which complicated virtual meetings and project deliverables. Overall, all agreed we would happily return to this property.

Large house and nicely equipped kitchen. The home furnishings are worn, some in very poor shape, even beyond what you would expect in a vacation rental. The master bedroom mattress is terrible. Sleeping on the ground would be more comfortable. Lot of the chairs have stains. Some of the downtair chairs you could not sit on, the bottoms were worn through. This house has a lot of potential, it just needs some attention and TLC - the owner should replace mattresses when they get this bad. We had a good overall stay, we love the area.

We had a fantastic stay at Osprey Retreat, which has one of the best locations that I've ever stayed in Bodega Bay Harbor, over 40+ years. The views of the ocean are sweeping and there is a ton of room. Loved that there was no tv on the main level. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking items and the game room was literally a gamechanger for our stay. J & J in the main office were wonderful to work with, as we extended our stay. Thank you, to all!

My family had a great weekend. The house is huge and clean, the only suggestion would to update some of the furniture. Other than that there were plenty of fun things for my kids to play. The hike to the beach was so peaceful and the plus side to it was that its close by the house. We recommend this place to anyone with a big family and will definitely rent this place out again.

Just completed our 2nd stay at Osprey Retreat, there were 9 of and there was plenty of room for all of us! We love the location of this house. The house is well maintained and there are plenty of places to sit and relax or join others and play a game. The kitchen has everything needed to cook a meal, can’t wait to return!!

We had a great time. our group of friends comes out to Bodega Bay once a year. We always rent from Bodega Bay Escapes and we have a blast!

Our home was quite roomy for the 10 of us that went. There were some improvements that needed to be taken care of with the house, but I have no doubt that will be taken care of.
We saw some deer, and lots of hummingbirds. Beautiful views.

With 3 generations and ages from 20 months to 78 years, the house "absorbed" us and left lots of space for small groupings.

With family in for the holidays from Seattle, New Mexico and the City it made sense to get a house on the coast. Osprey worked great for us with the many bedrooms, and large living room and dining room where we could gather. Well worth it.

This house has a lot of rooms!

We celebrated my daughter's 13th birthday with a party of 10. The house had ample room for daytime activities and sleeping areas. The house has a small deck upstairs with a table, chairs and barbecue, as well as in large deck downstairs. Roughly 100 yards north of the house is a 1/2 mile trail head to a private beach. Both the check in and the check out we're seamless. We had a great experience at this little gem.

First the house: Accommodated our group of five couples with kids perfectly. Lots of room to move around and never felt cramped. Delightful views of both the ocean and the grassy green hills. And with the ping pong table, skeeball machine, hot tub and board games there was never a dull moment. Sure, this as many other Bodega homes could use a little updating. But the kitchen was well stocked, the appliances are new and the beds are soft, what more could you ask for?

Bodega Bay Escapes: They (you) are a pleasure to work with when it comes to renting vacation properties. Pamela and her employees are experts at recommending the proper home for your group and are ready to help if anything is needed. And thank you thank you thank you for not jacking up your fees like the "other" rental outfits in the area. I look forward to renting with you again and again in the years to come.

Over all our stay was excellent.The beds were not really comfortable and we couldn't get the plugs in the master bath to work. But it was just what we needed to relax in after the busy holiday season!! We will definitely plan this trip again. The views in this house are to die for!!

Nice house on a beautiful Location sadly we went on a weekend that is fill with fog n mist so we couldn't see the ocean until the day we departed which is very sunny but overall the house is nice and warm

The home was very family friendly and accommodated our family to a tee. This was a perfect get-a-way for us and we enjoyed all the amenities of the home

We enjoyed it very much! The house was the perfect size for us. The views were very good. Lots of good play things, games, etc.

My family of 11(8 adults, 2 young kids, 1 crawling baby) enjoyed our weekend here.Plenty of space to spread out, game room kept many engaged, views, close to restaurants but kitchen was fine for putting meals together, stocked w/pans and dishes. Beds were firmer than we like and noisy but we'd still go back! If you think you'll need to do laundry, bring detergent & also towels for hot tubbing but otherwise everything else provided. Thank you!!

Spent a long weekend on a board retreat. House was large enough for our group. Great room was good for everyone to meet.

We couldn't have imagined better accommodations for our family Christmas trip. We had plenty of room, so everyone was very comfortable. Kitchen cabinets were well stocked. As a bonus, the house included arcade games, a hot tub, and ping pong. Plenty of entertainment without leaving the house. Also, we had a walking trail that abutted the house that led to the beach. It made for a pleasant and easy walk. We would definitely stay there again.

Family members stayed here, so I can't speak from personal experience. Great location for trails that lead to the beach.

We had a great time as usual. Upon our arrival we turned on the heat and 3 hours later the house had not warmed up. The heater was broken but the rental company moved quickly to rectify the situation. We will stay here again. The house could use a little TLC though.

This house was the perfect fit for our family Christmas. Enough space and a game room for the kids downstairs. We had a great time and the weather was perfect!

This house was perfect for our family reunion. We had 12 people and a dog, all fit very comfortably. There is a trial to the ocean right near the house, the kids had fun playing ski ball, and the adults had fun playing ping pong. There was only one unavoidable disturbance and that was the flies. Apparently the weather had been the perfect environment for the flies to reproduce. But nothing a couple of fly swatters couldn't take care of! If we plan on going back to bodega bay for our reunion next year we will be renting this home again.

The location of the propterty was in a fabulous location, it had great views of the beach and a nice walk down to the beach. Nice big house for multiple people and several diferent activites to keep everybody entertained.
Overall it was a great house to stay in. There was a little mishap but the propery managment was very courtious and promptly listened to my concerns and fixed them with no hesitation.
I would recommend the prperty and property managment again, also we would also use them again.

We arrived at dinnertime, so I was in a hurry to get started making supper for my hungry family... We immediately discovered there was no hand soap or dish soap in the kitchen. Took us a while to find some hand soap in another bathroom, but had to wait till after dinner to go into town to buy some dish soap.
The next morning, everyone took cold showers. And there was no soap available in the bathrooms. This is the first time in our rental experiences that any kind of soap was not available. No one complained too loudly, but there had been no written directions that the water heater was turned off & where to find it & how to turn it on, etc. of course, my husband went searching & got it fixed. But it would have been nice to know before showers.
Saturday morning, my husband had to log in online to work, and my college age daughter had to take an online test. Both had timed deadlines. There were no written directions for logging onto wireless internet, which was a little frustrating for both. Of course, they figured it out, just took a little longer, which was a bit stressful.
Downstairs, there was a pool table that flipped over into an air hockey table. The kids could never fine the hockey pucks. But they did enjoy playing pool & skee ball.

The staff was very accommodating and very helpful!

We rented three homes and Osprey Retreat housed two families with children. They enjoyed the game room and hiking trails nearby. We will definitely be back!

I rented this house for a 60th birthday party for my father. We were a group of 8 and found the rooms comfortable. The house is a little dated, but the location and view of the beautiful hills and adjacent farm more that makes up for this. The wood burning stove's glass was broken, which made having a fire impossible. The management company was VERY helpful and sweet, and I found the entire process of renting the property easy and delightful. The skee ball table was really cool, but the scoring didn't work. It was still fun despite having to keep score manually. The previous renters left the outdoor furniture in weird places. We didn't end up spending much time on the downstairs patio, so no big deal. Overall, this place was great! I would absolutely recommend this place to others.

This was my second trip to Osprey Retreat and it is becoming an annual trip for my friends and I. It's a great getaway and we are just coming from Petaluma. The house is amazing and the views are awesome. Last year the weather was sunny and warm, we were able to walk to the beach and enjoy the sun. This year the rain brought floods and we played board games by the fire. While the experiences were different they were both very enjoyable. Plan on seeing me every February!

The house was very clean and big enough to accomodate all 9 of us scrapbookers! We will be back next year!!

We had a great visit to Bodega Bay and having a place to call home helped make it so. The carpet in our house needs cleaning and the home is a little dated, but the upstairs views made up for a few stains and cobwebs! The staff could not have been more helpful or responsive as we made our plans and when we all arrived. Thanks!

Details about the home that may not be obvious from the photos or the official house description: From the driveway it is one step up to the front door, and from the entry hall, one step up to the main level. The master bedroom with full bath is on the main level as are the kitchen, utility room, half bath, and a "great room" consisting of the dining area, living area, and "sun room". A small deck with one non-working grill and one portable tailgater type grill is off the dining area. Bucolic views from the main level include the ranch on the other side of the creek and glimpses of the ocean. Upstairs is a loft with sleeper sofa and love seat. Downstairs is a small sitting room off of which are two queen BRs and a double-twin BR. The hot tub is in a glass-enclosed room accessible through either the double-twin BR or one of the queen BRs or from the outside. Down the hall are two full baths, the game room, and access to the large back deck. The game room has skeeball, air hockey/mini-billiards, and a very stained sofa-bed. We found the kitchen very well stocked though the previous guests had left many dishes quite dirty. The garage has a ping pong table, so you can't park your cars in it.

There are TVs all over the house, though we never turned any on so can’t comment on quality or cable access. Wifi worked for us the first night, but thereafter, though our devices could “see” the router, we kept getting the message that we could not connect.

From the back decks we watched the cows across the way and the myriad quail traipsing through the property. We loved the mixed sounds of the cows, birds, and seals. The trails to the ocean are pretty, but steep and slippery in some places. Particularly steep sections have stairs. There is also plenty of poison oak, so stay on the trails and bring your Technu. Both the road and the trails were too hilly for my mobility-impaired mother. Sedentary people might find the trails strenuous but they are easily navigabl

Osprey Retreat is a great home for our family retreat of 10 family members. There is plenty of room for all of us, including the loft for kids to sleep and play as their own space. Furniture is lovely throughout. We appreciate the bathroom addition, too! My only suggestion is to replace the dishwasher as it did not clean the dishes, replace the coffee maker as the heating plate is all worn, peelings and decrepid as is the teflon electric grill. We have stayed at Osprey over the years and it seems that there is less and less utensils, cooking pots & pans each time we visit. Thank you.

The house was awesome and my stay was amazing. The only thing that didn't work in the house was the stereo. It won't connect to USB and the iPod ock didn't work. Other than that though the house was perfect. I hope to stay here again.

The house was perfect for our group of 10 for a scrapbooking weekend. Large open living room space to scrap away. House was clean and good size so we did not feel cramped at all.

Dishes needed to be re-washed before using them. otherwise, everything was delightful!

We loved the layout of the home, the orientation of the house toward the hills and the amount of light in the upper floor.

We enjoyed our stay at Osprey Retreat. We wish it was closer to the water; getting to the beach was a real challenge; we mainly drove over to Duran Beach, where our grandkids had a ball. The house was very comfortable; we especially liked all the different levels, creating space for everyone and not feeling crowded. The game room was a bit hit!

It was great other than the oven not working right. It had a mind of its own. If we had known this we would have planned meals that did not need a oven. Also the toaster oven did not wOrk as a backup. The rest of the house and weekend was amazing. The kids had plenty of room to play without worrying about them getting hurt or breaking something. The spa was great to relax in too. We are discussing what other friends we will come back with

With four bedrooms and a couple of fold-out couches, Osprey Retreat was a great place for a small organizational retreat.

Everything was so easy renting with Bodega Escapes. House was clean and a great value for the space and location. Will definitely rent again.

We love this house. This is our third year renting it for our strat-o-matic baseball draft. This house has a unique view of a cattle ranch and our weather was perfect. The one star I deducted on general condition and clean was because the gas grill was completely greasy and not clean. We could not get it to light. We were going to BBQ but could not because of the grill condition. Otherwise awesome as usual!

A lovely, spacious house comfortable for 9 writers to retreat and work together for the weekend. Fantastic views. Close to the beach. A wonderful experience!

Great house for a large group, we had a good time over a long weekend with a large party on Saturday Night. Many spaces, great game room and private hot tub space. A very quiet location with nice furniture and a modern TV! The wood stove leaks a bit, but warmed up nicely.

Would recommend without reservation. Beds are on the small side -- but great location, plenty of stuff in the kitchen. Minimal stairs for the master BR. Gorgeous view of a farm and point Reyes.

We recently stayed in the Osprey Retreat for a Bachelorette Weekend. This home was AMAZING! So much room for all of us to be comfortable. This house goes on and on with new surprises in every room! We had a few minor issues with things not working (portable
heater in game room, and iPod docking station), and one night our oven would not start. We were also celebrating a bday that night and had plans to make a cake. When we couldn't get the oven to light, we called management. They sent someone right out to investigate
the problem. When she couldn't figure out why it wouldn't light, she took our cake mix and baked the cake for us!!!!!! She returned a short time later with an amazing pineapple upside down cake as we had requested. This kind of customer service is a breath
of fresh air. The only bad part was the serious level of depression that kicked in the day of our departure! We have already started planning a trip for next year it was so amazing here! Thank you for our wonderful stay!
